Introduction of New-huadu Business School
Supported by the donation totaled RMB 1 billion Newhuadu Business School (NBS) was established in 2010. ‘Fujian Fashu Charity Foundation’, formerly known as ‘Fujian Newhuadu Charitable Foundation', initiated the first donation of RMB 500 million for the establishment of NBS, and again donated RMB 200 million and 300 million to NBS respectively for further development and expansions in 2017 and 2020.
“Building a world-recognized business school merged with Chinese wisdom,” said Mr. Fashu Chen. His vision illustrates his attitude as to “accumulate wealth properly and use it righteously”, which is available in both the workplace and expectations of education.
The vision of NBS is to become a world-recognized business school, spreading the idea of advocating Chinese wisdom with international impacts. NBS has explored new techniques of teaching and learning since her establishment. Encouraging students’ hands-on experiences on start-ups, and to quickly fit in a dynamic business environment, these new trials have been highly appreciated by the Department of Education. In 2012, accompanying the trend of globalization of Chinese companies and academic institutions, NBS started to promote her start-ups and entrepreneurship education program to the international societies.
NBS comprises of world-class faculty members and sufficient academic research resources. Since established, NBS invited Professor Edmund Strother Phelps, the Nobel laureate in Economic Sciences in 2006 and the founding director of Columbia's Center on Capitalism and Society of Columbia University, to be her first Dean. He devoted himself to the NBS’s growth from all possible angles. Meanwhile, NBS had also gathered a group of respectful scholars and practitioners to be her faculties. NBS provides ample opportunities for students to achieve their aspirations in many ways including, setting up Study Abroad Fund for subsidizing student exchange programs, and funding students to start up the businesses. These are consistent with the charitable spirit of Mr. Fashu Chen.
